Who likes Barre Dance classes? 

Barre Dance is a fun class for men and women looking for a total body workout in the form of different kinds of dance. A ballet barre and mat work are used to tone your muscles. You'll also notice an improvement in balance. Aerobic dance with a variety of music adds some cardio to get your heart rate up.  

What is a Barre Dance class? 

Barre Dance is an aerobic class that involves many different kinds of dance moves to strengthen and elongate your muscles. The class is divided into two segments. Members are welcome to attend either the toning barre segment or the cardio dance segment. Better yet, come for the entire time and get the best of both worlds – a workout for your heart muscle and a workout for the rest of your muscles.  

The class starts with a basic warmup where you’ll get a good stretch to warm up your muscles. For the toning segment, you’ll do mat work and barre work to perform small isometric movements that tone the thighs, glutes, arms and core. In addition, some days you might use light hand weights, bands and other equipment. Some exercises may require you to be able to get down on the floor. If getting on the floor is a problem, modification will be made. Willis Knighton Fitness Centers provide all the exercise equipment you’ll use.  

The cardio segment uses various movements at different speeds. Modifications can be made if you cannot execute all movements.
