Group Fitness Classes

Our group fitness classes offer a friendly atmosphere with a personalized approach to exercise. Classes are taught by nationally certified instructors who excel in motivating and educating. We offer many multi-level classes that will challenge the “fit” member and encourage the “novice” exerciser.

If you have any orthopedic or medical problems, our instructors can offer modifications of specific exercises to meet your needs.

Footwork and breathwork improve physical and mental well-being

Who likes Zumba/Yoga classes?

With busy work schedules, we want to get the most out of our day. Zumba/Yoga supports this idea by providing two different exercise benefits in a single class. It’s a good mix of cardio, stretching and balancing postures combined with traditional breathing techniques to help you feel rejuvenated.

This class is for any body, any age and any shape, as it can be adapted to any fitness level.

What is a Zumba/Yoga class?

If you enjoy music and love dancing, then Zumba is for you! Zumba is an upbeat and lively dance fitness class that helps you sweat with a smile on your face. In this full-body workout, you’ll do choreography that tones your arm and leg muscles and squats that tighten your glute and core muscles. Members appreciate the many benefits of Zumba:

  • Burn calories while having fun
  • Improve coordination
  • Tone muscles throughout body
  • Increase heart rate for cardiovascular benefit
  • Mood booster that benefits mental health

With Zumba at the beginning of this class, you create heat in the body that helps you practice yoga in the second half of the class. Yoga helps you achieve quiet mind through the practice of asana (posture) and pranayama (rhythmic breath control).

Asana is an outward quest that keeps the body healthy, strong and in harmony with nature. Pranayama is an inward quest that regulates breathing, controls the mind and achieves inner peace. Breath is the bridge that connects life to consciousness and unites your body and mind. Practicing asanas with guided Ujjayi, a victorious breathing technique, creates prana (energy/heat) inside your body for a moving meditation – one breath, one movement. You move through different poses to strengthen your body and calm your mind. As you start to notice your thoughts and feelings without judgement, you’ll experience added peace and clarity that helps you:

  • Manage stress
  • Improve sleep
  • Sharpen memory
  • Strengthen emotional health
  • Enhance overall well-being

When and where does the Zumba/Yoga class meet?

Please see the schedule below for a current class schedule.

You are encouraged to bring your own yoga mat, as the fitness center has only a few in case you forget. Water is a must, and a small towel is handy. Bring tennis shoes for Zumba and be ready to practice yoga barefoot. Please avoid having a heavy meal before class.

Why do Zumba/Yoga?

Zumba/Yoga is a wonderful combination to diversify your overall fitness routine with a time-saving combination of aerobic and anaerobic activities. It's a great mix of yin and yang before your lunchtime. Cardio activity and stress release could increase your productivity for the rest of the day. The instructor says Zumba/Yoga helps you boost mood, release fatigue and declutter your mind.

Besides toning your muscles and strengthening your body, moving your spine in a safe way encourages the release of synovial fluid to lubricate your spine, which is compressed if your job involves sitting all day. Also, when you exercise, you release endorphins that trigger positive feelings throughout the day.
