Fusion training fitness exercises

Who likes TRX™ 20/20/20 classes?

TRX™ 20/20/20 is a combination of strength, flexibility and stamina training using suspension straps, hand weights, mats, balls, bands and other modalities of fitness training as part of the fusion fitness setting. This class is for people who know how to use the TRX™ strap safely and are ready for a more challenging, intense fitness routine that improves your overall conditioning. Because of the additional modalities utilized in this class, there is a fusion of other exercise modalities and tools. You spend approximately 20 minutes on the strap exclusively, and approximately 30 minutes devoted to all types of other fitness regimens.

What is a TRX™ class?

TRX™ 20/20/20 is a suspension training bodyweight exercise class that targets your bone health, balance, flexibility, strength and overall fitness. TRX™ is an acronym for total body resistance training and is a workout for your entire body through pulling, balancing, repetitious aerobic work, including circuit work, weight-stacking and interval training. TRX™ strengthens connective tissues that keep the body strong and prevent traumatic injuries. These tissues are the tendons that connect your muscles to your bones and ligaments that connect one bone to another. Strong, pliable connectors help protect your bones and joints.

A typical workout throughout the 20/20/20 fusion work includes a crossover of different fitness modalities. TRX™ movements are combined with circuit training, hand weights, body bars, slam balls, Bosu balls, chair work, and other modalities to help you obtain a more pliable, resilient body. Positive results include strengthened bones and joints, which diminishes the catastrophic injuries from falls and consequential aging factors associated with sedentary lifestyles. As people age, connective tissues generally shorten from nonuse and sedentary habits, which ultimately causes immobility and a greater likelihood of injury.

TRX™ 101 is recommended before 20/20/20 so that you are ready to work, as opposed to learning the whole TRX™ system. This class is for those who are ready for a more challenging workout program. TRX™ utilizes your bodyweight while suspended from a TRX™ strap, called the machine. The machine is attached to an A-frame rack with a tether and a ratcheting clip. Once the strap is attached and you are holding a hand cradle, you are leveraging your body weight against gravity. As this class is guided by certified TRX™ instructors who watch and correct poor form or incorrect use of the strap, this class is considered safe for all participants.

TRX™ 20/20/20 is an elevated class with advanced moves that help you perfect your TRX™ form. As already noted, the use of different hand weights and other tools and modalities increases your workload. Simple strategic changes make big impacts, such as adding hand weights to one hand while holding the strap with the other and working the machine. These small incremental changes supercharge the workout program.

Another strategy is moving small distances toward and away from the A-frame to increase and decrease your workload, respectively. The TRX™ 20/20/20 alternates slow work and fast work. Slow work with a strap increases your muscle endurance. Fast work with the strap has more cardiovascular benefit.

Because members already know how to use the machine effectively, this allows the instructor more time to check for improper form and make on-the-spot interventions as the TRX™ 20/20/20 workout progresses. The instructor keeps you motivated as you rotate through a challenging fitness workout, including circuit work, intervals and all the aforementioned modality combinations using your own body weight as resistance.

When and where does the class meet?

TRX™ 20/20/20 gym classes are held on the TRX™ frames at WK Fitness & Wellness Centers at North and Pierremont in Shreveport and in Bossier City, Louisiana. Classes meet for 50 minutes every week.

Why do TRX™?

Expected outcomes for TRX™ 20/20/20 are improvements to your posture, bone health, increased lean tissue, increased strength and cardio-pulmonary capacity. As much of the work involved includes movements known as functional training, activities you do in everyday life, the functional benefits associated with TRX™ 20/20/20 allow you to maintain strength and mobility throughout your entire life.
