Our group fitness classes offer a friendly atmosphere with a personalized approach to exercise. Classes are taught by nationally certified instructors who excel in motivating and educating. We offer many multi-level classes that will challenge the “fit” member and encourage the “novice” exerciser.

Who likes Chair Dance classes?

If you like dance and you want to try a new style for added variety, Chair Dance is a solution you might like. Beginners and advanced dancers stretch and strengthen muscles in a gentle, fun way. This class generally appeals to older people or people with injury who need chair support to stand upright.

What is a Chair Dance class?

Chair Dance is a fun way to work your body, especially if you have any issues with balance, standing for long periods, etc. You’ll begin with stretching exercises to warm up your muscles. You will use a chair as a prop to sit on or to stand and hold onto while you perform various movements with your legs, feet, arms, hands and core. Light weights, small balls and bands may be used. Come and improve your cardio fitness, muscle tone, posture and flexibility while grooving to the music.

The class helps members build physical strength and improve balance through the use of their major muscle groups. Other benefits you are likely to see include more functional stability and body awareness.

When and where does the Chair Dance class meet?

Chair Dance meets in the aerobics studio for 50 minutes once a week at South. Check the interactive class schedule for the current location, day and time.

Why do Chair Dance?
