Our group fitness classes offer a friendly atmosphere with a personalized approach to exercise. Classes are taught by nationally certified instructors who excel in motivating and educating. We offer many multi-level classes that will challenge the “fit” member and encourage the “novice” exerciser.

If you have any orthopedic or medical problems, our instructors can offer modifications of specific exercises to meet your needs.

Attention all baby boomers looking for a fun way to stay active! Spin with your peers in this indoor cycling cardio workout class that focuses on cardio and community. Instructors tailor each class routine for active baby boomers with safe and effective fitness tools for your age. Enjoy cycling cardio benefits as you ride to the high-tempo music of your generation along with fellow baby boomers.  

What is a Boomer Spin class? 

Let's start with the basics – what is a spin class? Spin is a high intensity indoor cycling cardio workout. You cycle on a bike that is stationary, which is a plus if you’ve ever fallen or you have trouble with balance. Do this with other baby boomers on a spin bike in a gym that keeps you out of bad weather and out of dangerous traffic. This cycling cardio exercise class can be done safely when it’s dark outside – before work when the sun is not up yet, and after hours when the sun has already gone down for the day. When you cycle with a spin class, you follow directions from an experienced instructor who keeps an eye out for any medical problems. The gym’s location near Willis-Knighton hospitals guarantees a response team can help you quickly if the need arises.  

Why spin with boomers? More than 70 million people in the United States are part of the baby boomer generation, born between 1946 and 1964. This generation is expected to live longer than previous generations. This means more years (lifespan) to consider your health and lifestyle practices so you can enjoy the extra years with your loved ones (well span). When and where does this class meet? 

Boomer Spin meets at WK Pierremont Wellness Center. The class is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 50 minutes in the aerobics studio. Even though you’re indoors, you still sweat, which you want to do so your body gets the full benefit. Cycling cardio is low impact and the full range of motion is very beneficial for your joints. Riding on a spin bike in a gym full of energy and good music helps you stay motivated.

Bike pedals can be adapted for regular athletic shoes, or you can purchase special cycling shoes with SPD Pedal clips at a local bike shop.
