Some people see Pickleball as a lower-impact form of tennis or badminton. Like those sports, Pickleball involves use of the upper extremities (should, elbow, wrist) and lower extremities (hip, ankle, foot), so injuries occur just the same.
If you enjoy the sport mostly for fun and its cardio benefits, you can get that even without making those game-saving moves. You’ll do better if you warm up properly before you play and also allow for a proper cooldown period. Be sure to let your body guide you. If you’re dealing with preexisting pain or a flareup of arthritis, bow out until you’re feeling better. Even famous athletes learn their limits. And if you have an injury, get the appropriate treatment right away.
Pickleball is a sport that people of all ages can enjoy. Make your experience safe and enjoyable.
