Spring Refresh: Detox Mind and Body

Posted Apr 23, 2025

Spring brings the perfect opportunity to reset and recharge. After months of winter hibernation, it's natural to feel a bit sluggish — mentally and physically. A spring detox can help clear the cobwebs, both in our homes and within ourselves. Here’s how to gently refresh your mind and body this season, plus a simple, delicious recipe to get started.

Detox your mind: Spring cleaning isn’t just for your closet! A mental detox can reduce stress, improve focus and boost your mood:

  • Start mindfulness practice: Just 5 to 10 minutes of daily meditation or mindful breathing can help calm the nervous system and bring mental clarity.
  • Unplug to recharge: Designate certain times of the day to go screen-free. Step outside, read a book or reconnect with a hobby you love.
  • Journal your intentions: Spring is symbolic of new beginnings. Write down what you want to let go of — and what you’d like to welcome into your life.

Detox your body: Spring is the season of greens — both in nature and on your plate. Embracing lighter, whole foods and movement can help your body shed the heaviness of winter.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: The best energy drink is water! Water is essential for flushing toxins. Aim for 8 to 10 glasses a day. Add lemon or cucumber for extra detox benefits.
  • Eat clean and green: Fill your meals with seasonal veggies, fresh herbs and fruits. Reduce processed foods, sugar and alcohol.
  • Move with joy: The best antidepressant is exercise. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a morning yoga flow or dancing in your kitchen — movement keeps energy flowing and lifts your spirits.

Spring detox doesn’t have to be extreme. With gentle shifts in your routine and a little extra self-care, you’ll feel lighter, brighter and ready to embrace the season ahead.
