May is Military Appreciation Month when we share gratitude for service members’ sacrifice for and commitment to our country. Every day our military personnel strive to improve their physical fitness through fitness tests that involve five main components:
A well-balanced exercise program includes exercises that address each of the health-related components of fitness. Intentional movements like yoga, stretching and tai chi help improve flexibility. Resistance exercises such as pushups, squats, lunges and sit-ups develop muscular strength and endurance and assist in the development of a healthy body composition. Aerobic activities such as swimming, biking, rowing and walking help one develop cardiorespiratory endurance and burn calories to benefit healthy body composition.
Here at WK Fitness & Wellness Centers our members may schedule a fitness assessment for free with one of our fitness instructors. They will measure your five components of fitness and write an exercise prescription that meets your fitness goals.
